Greenberg Traurigs Paul Keenan to Moderate Panel at Debtwire Mexico Roundtable

MIAMI – April 13, 2015 – Paul J. Keenan, a shareholder with the Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice in the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will moderate a panel discussion at the Debtwire Mexico Roundtable on April 16, 2015. The firm is also a lead sponsor of the event.

Roundtable topics will highlight Mexican restructuring and credit markets. Speakers will also discuss changes to the Concurso law under Mexico’s financial reform as they relate to recent precedent-setting cases.

Keenan focuses his practice on representing corporate debtors, banks and other lending institutions, Chapter 11 trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, and asset purchasers in out-of-court corporate restructurings and bankruptcy cases. He represents clients in bankruptcy courts in Florida and nationwide and also represents purchasers of distressed assets and lenders and borrowers in out-of-court transactions. He also represents lending institutions and corporate debtors in cross-border corporate restructurings, primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean. Paul was one of the lead restructuring lawyers for Satélites Mexicanos, S.A. de C.V., whose restructuring of $ 420 million of debt was awarded the “Restructuring Deal of the Year Award” by Latin Lawyer magazine.

Greenberg Traurigs Keith J. Shapiro Recognized for Contributions to Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal

Keith J. Shapiro, co-chair of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Business Reorganization & Financial Restructuring Practice, recently received a special award for his dedication to Emory University School of Law and his significant contributions to the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal. Shapiro, who earned his law degree from Emory, helped launch the Journal 30 years ago and has served as its alumni advisor for almost two decades.

In 1999, Shapiro established the Shapiro Bankruptcy Writing Awards for student members of the Journal. These annual awards provide important monetary support for the winning students.

“Emory Law depends on the vital connections among students, faculty, alumni, and the profession. Keith has been that vital connector, and he has helped the Journal become one as well. As we celebrate 30 years of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal, we would like to recognize Keith Shapiro as its advisor, supporter, and guardian angel,” said Robert Schapiro, dean of Emory University School of Law, in remarks at the Journal’s annual awards dinner and published in the most recent Journal.

“I sincerely thank the leadership and faculty of Emory University School of Law for always striving to deliver practical training and experience to their students. I thank you for supporting this Journal in such a consistent and meaningful way over the past 30 years,” said Shapiro.

Shapiro is vice president of Greenberg Traurig and chairman of the Chicago office. He has more than 30 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience and appears worldwide in corporate bankruptcy matters and workouts.

A leader in the restructuring community, Shapiro is a member of the International Board of Directors of the Turnaround Management Association. He was previously chairman of the board and president of the American Bankruptcy Institute, a member of the board of directors of INSOL International, and chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
