BONKGEAR Announces Partnership with Fitness Coach and Author, Steve RemissionMan Brown, and non-profit, Team Inspiration, to produce SURVIVOR themed fitness apparel.

Ashburn, VA (PRWEB) April 20, 2015

BONKGEAR, designer and distributor of smart athletic apparel for endurance, strength and agility training, announced a partnership with triathlete, coach, author, speaker and SURVIVOR Steve Brown. Steve has joined the BONKGEAR team as a trainer, customizing a series of triathlon workouts for SURVIVOR themed mobile-connected fitness apparel, with a portion of all sales revenue donated to nonprofit organization Team Inspiration.

In February of 2006, Steve was diagnosed with leukemia. He underwent chemotherapy while still maintaining his baseline fitness level, often running home from his treatments, he quickly reached complete remission. By September of that year, just 7 months after his diagnosis, “Remission Man” crossed the finish line of yet another iron distance triathlon – 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and 26.2-mile run. Brown chronicled his journey through remission and across the finish line in his 2007 book My New Race, and his new book, Relentless Mettle – My Cancer, My Rules, which was published in February 2015.

“I draw parallel lines between the challenges we face in sport and those we face in life, says Steve Brown, I am thrilled to work with BONKGEAR, and utilizing the SURVIVOR apparel and training programs as another platform to encourage people to break through barriers and understand that all things are possible.” A portion of all sales revenue from the SURVIVOR apparel is being donated to Team Inspiration, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals living with cancer by providing exercise & wellness programs that improve their physical, mental, and spiritual quality of life.

“We began our entry into endurance sports with RUNNER and MARATHON themed apparel and workouts,” says Chris Jones founder of BONKGEAR, “so when we decided to develop a program for triathletes we immediately thought of Steve Brown. Steve has inspired many people to compete and raise money for cancer charities through his personal story and his coaching. BONKGEAR is excited to play a part in empowering others to train and compete as well as raise awareness and funds for Team Inspiration.”

“We could not be more thrilled, not only to have Steve as one of our coaches and spokesperson for Team Inspiration, but to have BONKGEAR behind us as well,” states Roseann Dougherty, founder of Team Inspiration, an oncology nurse and cancer exercise specialist, triathlete, and USAT Certified Coach.

Each BONKGEAR apparel design includes a hidden QR code that when scanned using any QR scanner on your smartphone, it auto-launches a mobile-enhanced website containing daily rotating workouts inspired by the theme of the shirt. Each shirt design includes 9+ custom training workouts, with three levels of intensity – Level 1, Level 2 and BONK level.

About BONKGEAR

BONKGEAR originated in the heart of an athlete, adventure racer and designer. Their founder created custom shirts for his team at a local endurance race and received such interest in them he decided to design a line of shirts focused on popular training themes.

DeMatha Catholic Is the First High School Baseball Team to Use The Right Profile’s TAP 360 Pro-Level Mindset Assessment Tools to Better Develop Its Athletes

Hyattsville, MD (PRWEB) March 19, 2015

Although the Troutwine Athletic Profile (TAP) has been used by NFL, MLB and NBA teams for decades to better evaluate, coach and develop their athletes, it was not offered to college and high school athletic programs until late 2014. Many pro teams, including the Kansas City Royals, Washington Nationals and the New England Patriots, use the TAP as an integral part of their organization’s talent pipeline, development and mental conditioning programs. The Right Profile recently interviewed DeMatha Catholic high school’s head baseball coach, Sean O’Connor, about being the first high school baseball coach nationally to use the TAP in its athlete development program.

At the heart of the interview lies the main question for any prep-sport baseball fan – with a proven track record like that of DeMatha Catholic and a personal coaching resume that has earned Coach O’Connor an upcoming induction into the Baltimore Boys of Summer Hall of Fame later this spring, why add a pro-level system like TAP 360 to their program? Coach O’Connor was direct. “As I coach, I need to figure out what makes a player tick, what makes a player move on, and what is a great characteristic of an athlete and of an alumnus, that’s what sold me on the whole process.” Even though the coach says he knows these kids really well, he confessed that “the TAP takes it to a completely different level.”

Coach O’Connor has had all of his players take the TAP and is planning to use the TAP 360 reports to enhance player development and communications with his athletes. “If we have the tool to identify (player weakness and development opportunities) and help them, we are going to make them better citizens, better people, and better athletes.” That holistic approach extends to basic communications and trust. “If the players have a trust factor and we have a trust factor, we can be very successful.”

The full text of the interview is available on The Right Profile’s press and media page.

About The Right Profile

The Right Profile’s TAP 360 System is an athlete development & coaching system for the mental game. It is based on the Troutwine Athletic Profile (TAP) taken by nearly 20,000 elite athletes. The TAP 360 System is used by teams in the NFL®, MLB® & NBA® to evaluate and develop professional athletes, and there are specialized TAP 360 versions for collegiate, high school and club athletic teams. The goal of the TAP 360 system is to help athletes develop a champion’s mindset. The system also includes athlete development reports and suggested exercises and activities to improve an athlete’s mental game. For more information, visit athletetypes.com. National Nutrition Month

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) March 05, 2015

March is National Nutrition Month®, an annual nutrition education and information campaign sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The 2015 theme is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle,” which promotes the consumption of fewer calories, informed food decisions, and daily exercise for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, reducing risks of chronic diseases and promoting overall wellness.

Whether a person is new to physical fitness activities or a pro, nutrition can seem complicated. Many nutritionists create intense and detailed food regimens for their clients, but a solid nutrition program can be simple and still very beneficial. For those wanting the most from a diet and fitness routine, the following tips may help:

1.    Daily balanced diet. For consistent performance at the gym or with a sport, the body needs a regular supply of quality energy for the muscles. A few daily essentials for meeting the body’s needs include: a balanced breakfast; carbohydrates for fuel; and proteins and fats appropriate for a person’s individual body-type and fitness goals.

2.    Day of the workout. For those tackling a workout first thing in the morning, be sure to have a light breakfast like fruit, toast, and/or an egg. For those who workout in the evenings, have a lunch that easily digestible but includes complex carbs. Pasta, fruits, vegetables or a salad with lean meat (chicken or fish) are good examples.

3.    Immediately prior to workout. About 30 minutes before an intense workout, eat a light to moderate snack and drink some water. The amount of food a person should ingest depends on the length and intensity of their upcoming workout. Longer, harder activities may require the individual to eat an energy bar or large banana.

4.    During workout. Necessary hydration varies from person to person, but a good rule of thumb is to intake 8 to 10 fl oz of water every 15 minutes while exercising. For those working out longer than 90 minutes, carbohydrates will likely need to be replenished as well, making a sports drink more of an ideal choice.

5.    Post-workout hydration. After a workout, water needs to be replaced in the body according to how much a person has sweated. The more perspiration, the more hydration required. To be absolutely precise, check body weight before and after the physical activity. For every pound decrease, a person should drink about 3 cups of water.

6.    Post-workout food. Glycogen stores should be replenished within two hours after an intense workout. Research shows that a 4-to-1 ratio of carbs to proteins is the ideal post-workout nutrition combination. The nourishment can come in the form of solid food, a liquid shake, or a combination of the two.

“We are very excited to welcome Twin Cities Orthopedics and Octane Fitness as a silver level sponsor of Team USA Minnesota,” said Pat Goodwin, Team USA Minnesota president and founder. “This unique partnership provides our athletes with a wide range of health, preventative and training support, along with innovative equipment like the Zero Runner, at TCO’s new state-of-the-art facility in Eden Prairie.”

“Octane’s mission is to fuel athletes and exercisers with the absolute best products that deliver results,” said Tim Porth, the EVP of product development and marketing. “As a Minnesota-based company, we are proud that our Zero Runner plays a role in boosting the performance of Team USA Minnesota athletes and the clients of TCO.”

“Having leaders in health care and training equipment collaborating and discovering new ways to reduce and prevent injuries in our best athletes will carry over into how we care for the everyday athlete, the prospective college athlete, and the people trying to prioritize their health and wellness,” said Chris Bailey, director of therapy at TCO.

To kick off the relationship, Team USA Minnesota athletes will share tips to run like the pros at the grand opening of TCO at 12982 Valley View Road in Eden Prairie, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28. The athletes will be available from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. The event also includes performance demos for golf, hockey, throwing and weightlifting; presentations from TCO clinicians on nutrition, injuries and sports medicine; and prizes and giveaways.

Zero-Impact Running

Unlike any other training machine, the Zero Runner has mechanical hip and knee joints that precisely replicate human biomechanics in running, with independent pedals that allow runners to utilize their natural running gait, just like outside. Users completely control their stride and pace, and the Zero Runner follows the runner’s movement through the initiate, pull-through, lift and extension phases.

For athletes, as well as recreational runners, the Zero Runner offers multiple benefits:

Run without impact – runners can add mileage without risking overuse and injury
Race preparation – longer runs can combine miles outside with Zero workouts to maximize stamina, maintain form and reduce impact
Active recovery – the Zero Runner enhances conditioning but eliminates joint stress and “junk miles”
Cross training – CROSS CiRCUIT®, which blends running with strength training and flexibility intervals enables runners to address weak links
Longer career – the Zero Runner removes the harmful pounding that can limit longevity

Octane Fitness Background

Relentlessly fueled to reinvent zero-impact cardiovascular exercise, Octane Fitness has perfected the elliptical machine, introduced a new category with the xRide® recumbent elliptical, designed strength-infused cardio with the unique CROSS CiRCUIT®, created exercise in a new direction with the LateralX®, reinvented running with the Zero Runner® and is leading smarter training with SmartLink™. The Healthy Home Company and In-Vest USA Team Up to Save the Lives of Law Enforcement

Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) December 24, 2014

The Healthy Home Company has a mission to make the home a safer place to raise families. In-Vest USA is dedicated to supporting our communities by helping protect those who protect us – our first responders. Today, these two organizations have joined forces to save the lives of law enforcement officers by providing them with body armor through In-Vest’s USA’s Bless the Vest campaign to avoid future incidents like the tragic shootings that happened this past week in New York.

In-Vest USA’s Bless the Vest campaign provides law enforcement officers with protective body armor vests to wear while on duty protecting our families, communities and homeland. While many believe that officers are provided a vest as part of their equipment, this is far from the truth.

Facts:

An officer not wearing a body armor vest is 14 times more likely to be killed by a firearm than an officer wearing a vest.
40% of officers (almost 400,000) do not have a protective vest.
Of those who do have a protective vest to wear on duty, nearly 20% of those vests do not fit properly. A properly fitting vest can mean the difference between life and death.
Body armor vests must be replaced every 5 years and cost around $ 700 each, which is a small price to pay for the lives of our law enforcement officers.

In-Vest USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has distributed more than 3,500 free, bullet-proof vests to police officers through its grassroots volunteer organization. But that is just a drop in the bucket. The Healthy Home Company has partnered with In-Vest to give you a chance to make a difference and perhaps even save the life of one of our country’s first responders.

Give back to those who have dedicated their life to protecting you. When you purchase Healthy Home Company products using this link (http://www.HealthyHomeCompany.com/InVestUSA), 10% of the proceeds go toward In-Vest USA’s Bless the Vest campaign.

You can also donate directly at http://bit.ly/Support_In-Vest.
