University of Westerm States hires new functional medicine doctor for clinic system

Portland, Ore (PRWEB) March 13, 2015

University of Western States (UWS), a leader in the education of health care professionals, recently added Rachel Fischer, MD, MPH to the UWS clinic system. Dr. Fischer’s background in preventive and functional medicine also earned her a role as a faculty member in the new Northwest Center for Lifestyle and Functional Medicine (NWCLFM) at UWS. In this role, she will serve as the Integrative Therapeutics distinguished professor of functional medicine, teaching functional and preventive medicine to students in the HNFM program.

Functional medicine integrates the most recent Western medical data and practices with a focus on prevention and reversing disease progression through nutrition, exercise, stress management, as well as with drugs, supplements or therapeutic diets.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Fischer join our clinic and teaching staff. Her experience as a medical doctor with a background in functional and preventive medicine not only broadens the scope of services we can provide to patients, it also aligns with the goals and visions of the university’s new Northwest Center for Lifestyle and Functional Medicine. She shares in our belief that treating disease must start with finding the root cause,” Dr. Will Evans, provost and executive vice president at University of Western States said.

Dr. Fischer obtained her medical degree from University of Utah, where she also completed two years of medical residency in internal medicine. Dr. Fischer then completed her residency and fellowship in occupational and environmental medicine at University of Washington. Additionally, she completed a Master of Science with a focus in epidemiology from University of Utah and a master of public health focused in environmental health from University of Washington. Dr. Fischer is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is currently pursing certification by the Institute of Functional Medicine.

“While my experience and education made this position a perfect fit for me,” Dr. Fischer said, “ultimately, it was the people and their shared belief that a transformation in patient care is necessary to address the complex, chronic diseases that so significantly impact public health.”

Vacuworx Introduces New Octapad Slab System and Hydraulic Barrier Lifter At World of Concrete

(PRWEB) February 03, 2015

Vacuworx, the pioneer of vacuum lifting technology in North America, introduced two new products today at World of Concrete in Las Vegas that provide faster, safer, smarter concrete slab lifting and highway barrier placement.

Vacuworx Lifting Systems have been used successfully for a variety of commercial applications, including manufacturing processes, oil/gas drilling, and pipeline and highway construction. While the Vacuworx RC Series of Lifters have been widely used in vacuum material handling and construction using a single vacuum pad attached to a lifter, there was a need in highway and bridge construction to lift deteriorated concrete slabs from roadways and bridges. As a result, Vacuworx designed and manufactured an eight-pad attachment to its existing line of RC Series Vacuum Lifters appropriately named the Octapad System.

Each pad has its own vacuum valve, allowing a pad to be shut off when it’s directly on top of a pothole or a crack. This creates more vacuum to other opened pads for concrete slab lifting] from a road or bridge and to placement in a truck for removal without re-handling by workers. Octapad can lift reinforced slabs up to 6’ wide x 12’ long x 12” thick and weighing up to 16,588 lbs.

The second product introduced at World of Concrete is the Hydraulic Barrier Lifter that Vacuworx specially designed to improve safety and bolster productivity for construction contractors, governmental authorities, security agencies and military personnel tasked with installing, moving and lifting concrete road barriers.

The Vacuworx Hydraulic Barrier Lifter attaches to excavators and/or backhoes and has a quick coupler and quick hydraulic fittings kit for easy installation on the host vehicle. It can lift 8’, 10’, 12’, and 16’ concrete barriers and was designed with rotational capability for precise maneuvering in confined spaces during road, bridge and highway construction. The Hydraulic Barrier Lifter weighs 950 lbs.; has 9,000 lbs. lift capacity; and features elastomer grips to provide contact with a barrier without marking or damaging the barrier.

These new products were the direct result of listening to customers and fulfilling the Vacuworx charter of developing faster, safer, smarter solutions.

“It’s all about taking care of people,” Vacuworx Founder and President Bill Solomon said. “Like all of our products, the Octapad System and Hydraulic Barrier Lifter takes workers out of harms way and provides a safer and more efficient way to lift concrete slabs and barriers, eliminating the need for air or hydraulic hammers, drills, hooks, chains, cables, slab buckets and without the dust and noise that customarily results in the process.”

World of Concrete, Feb. 3-6, Las Vegas, with over 1,400 exhibitors in 674,000 sq. ft., is the industry’s only annual international event dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries showcasing leading industry suppliers featuring innovative products, construction machinery, construction equipment, safety training courses and new technologies.

Vacuworx is a 15-year-old company that designs and manufactures vacuum lifting systems and hydraulic lifters for worldwide distribution from its Tulsa facility. Vacuworx is also the founder of The Pipeline and Energy Expo and Eagle Gift Foundation, both in Tulsa.

New at Summit Racing Equipment: Tanks Inc. Fuel Tanks and Fuel System Components

Tallmadge, OH (PRWEB) November 07, 2014

The fuel tanks in classic GM musclecars are pushing 50 years old and are not set up to handle an in-tank fuel pump for use with electronic fuel injection. A brand new Tanks, Inc. fuel tank and matching GPA fuel pump module from Summit Racing is practically a drop-in solution to fuel delivery issues.

Tanks Inc. fuel tanks are made from die-stamped heavy gauge galvanized steel with a protective silver powdercoat finish. The tanks have EFI style internal baffling and an extra large internal fuel tray built in to prevent fuel pump starvation. The optional fuel pump and sender are recessed in the tank for easy installation with no modifications needed—the tank will look like OEM from the outside. Tanks Inc. even includes mounting straps with most fuel tanks, plus O-ring gaskets and screws for the fuel pump and sending unit.

Summit Racing has fuel tanks for these vehicles:

1964-72 GM A-body
1967-73 Camaro and Firebird
1962-72 Chevy II/Nova
1955-57 Chevy
1964.5-68 Mustang

The GPA Series Fuel Pump Modules are designed for use with Tanks Inc. fuel tanks, put can be retrofitted to other tanks. They feature Walbro high-performance electric pumps in 190, 255, and 400 liters per hour (lph) ratings. The heavy 10-gauge, zinc-plated mounting plate contains fittings for the supply, return, and vent lines plus the electrical connector. The internal wiring harness, supply line, return line, filter sock, and insulator sleeve are included.

You’ll also need a fuel level sending unit. The Tanks Inc. sending units work on fuel tanks that are six to 24 inches deep—simply cut it to length. The sending units have a high-quality ceramic board rheostat for durability and work with all 6-24 volt electrical systems, positive or negative ground. The units are available in 0-90 ohm (1965-up GM), 0-30 ohm (pre-1965 GM), 240-33 ohm (Stewart Warner and other aftermarket gauges), and 10-180 ohm (VDO) versions.

Summit Racing has those from Tanks Inc.fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and fuel rail adapters for enthusiasts building a fuel system from scratch.

There are solid tech articles and installation videos on Tanks Inc. website.
