DLC qualification requires LED luminaires to undergo testing at accredited testing laboratories and the lighting fixtures must meet specific minimum or maximum requirements for lumen output, efficacy (lumens per watt), CCT (Correlated Color Temperature, or how warm or cold the light appears to the eye), CRI (Color Rendering Index, a measure of how accurately colors appear under the light) and zonal lumen density (the spatial distribution of light, useful in determining glare potential). HVACR technicians in Guatemala City, San Salvador and Managua attended Uniweld seminars that focused on brazing technologies and techniques to minimize refrigerant leaks, as well as updates on Uniweld’s latest product introductions, such as Uniweld’s patented EZ Turn™ hoses and NV1 NitroVue™ nitrogen flow indicator. Key talking points included the importance of properly selecting their equipment to properly install, service and maintain customer air conditioning and refrigeration units to allow HVACR technicians to achieve optimum performance and hassle free operation.

Uniweld’s Richard Apodaca stated, “In most Central American countries, HVACR technicians often select a cheaper option and in doing so, may circumvent some of the proper guidelines and installation procedures required by the equipment manufacturer, as well as risking the proper performance of the equipment with lesser quality product. As a manufacturer, I feel it is Uniweld’s responsibility to educate technicians on using the proper tools and procedures to ensure optimum safety and performance of the equipment.”
