Kudolife, a free diet and activity tracking app, announced its much-anticipated Apple Watch release available at the App Store today. This brand new update allows health-conscious users to track their calories and activities with a glance by utilizing machine learning algorithms in the background to identify activity type for accurate tracking.

The complete lifestyle iOS app is now fully compatible with the sought-after Apple Watch, which will allow users to proactively stay on track in maintaining a healthy lifestyle with increased activity and nutritional insights. The Apple Watch is considered the most in-demand wearable with a stunning 1.25 million preorders on the first release date alone and claims an exceptional design and revolutionary technology. Kudolife’s adoption of the Apple Watch SDK will allow it to expand its service offering to the millions of users waiting for their watch.

“Our proprietary diet and fitness app Kudolife has reached all-new levels in mobile and web user experience with the Apple device,” says Co-founder and CEO Zeeshan Hayat. “Kudolife’s visually striking, remarkably intuitive, and astonishingly accurate Apple Watch update will make achieving a healthy lifestyle easier and more convenient than ever before.” Kudolife’s refresh allows users to view their calories in, calories out, and see nutritional suggestions in real time on the wearable interface. Further updates include iPhone and timepiece notifications like push reminders, encouragements, progress summaries, and an enriched redesign that will help motivate users to make healthy choices.

The diet and activity tracking app combines the 2.5 million food database with proprietary algorithms to personalize the correct amount of calories, analyze nutritional intake, and automatically detect the type of activity for each user for accurate calorie tracking. Users can also participate in an engaging online community for “Kudos.” With high accuracy, low battery usage, and Apple Watch and device-free options, Kudolife intends to become a major player in the diet and fitness app market.

Currently, Kudolife is further expanding its intellectual property to integrate into an eHealth Ecosystem that will allow users to see how their choices are affecting their overall well-being through insightful analytics and predictive modelling. The eHealth Ecosystem will create a lifeline for users that they can access for a lifetime so they can receive encouragement and medical services at the point of need. As Hayat said, “The big question in the health industry is how to prevent or prolong the onset of disease, and the answer lies in a mindful lifestyle. Our aim is to create a daily roadmap to health with our app that makes it easy for users to get there.”

Extra Christmas Trees Turn into Animal Treats

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) January 06, 2015

Dozens of leftover Christmas trees have turned into special treats for Oakland Zoo animals. Right after the holiday season wrapped up, zoo staff received a call from a local tree lot hoping to donate a truckload of trees. Zookeepers were eager to accept the extras as they use the saplings in a variety of ways.

The small pine trees turn into sticky snacks for animals such as the giraffes, zebras, camels, and goats to enjoy. For baboons and otters, zookeepers place goodies among the tree branches for the animals to find. It’s a game of smell and seek that many creatures seem to relish. “The Christmas trees provide our zoo animals with a unique seasonal enrichment,” said Colleen Kinzley, Director of Animal Care at Oakland Zoo. “Animals in the wild encounter different plants and flowers at different times of the year; the Christmas trees and other items allow use to replicate that seasonal variety. Some of the hoof stock animals enjoy browsing on the trees, while other animals may use them as toys or furniture.”

These trees are a form of enrichment zookeepers strive to give all animals at Oakland Zoo. Squirrel monkeys enjoy swinging and hanging around in the noble firs, and they treat the firs like new furniture in their exhibit. During this time of year, tree donations provide a seasonal delight for the animals to explore, experience, and smell in their exhibits. Guests may see the animals enjoying the seasonal tree treats daily from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

***Media Advisory: On Thursday, January 8 from 11:00am – 12:30pm, video and photo opportunities of animals feasting on trees will be available. Please contact Nicky Mora at (510) 632-9525, ext 130 if you plan on attending. Media should meet at the Zoo by 10:45am, under the Oakland Zoo sign at the Main Entrance of the Zoo.***

    11:00am:    Hyenas
    11:30pm:    Meerkats
    11:45pm:     Elephants
    12:15pm:     Baboons

Oakland Zoo would like to thank Crystal River Christmas Trees in Alameda for donating their leftover trees to the Zoo animals.

ANIMAL ENRICHMENT:

Animal enrichment items (special play toys, unique scents, or food treats) are a valuable asset to all zoos. Not only do they provide the exercise that all animals need, but they also help to keep the animals active, engaged, and foraging in natural behaviors. While visiting Oakland Zoo, guests may see firsthand how the animals interact with various enrichment items. Oakland Zoo does accept animal enrichment donations. For a complete list of items people can donate, go to: http://www.oaklandzoo.org/Donate_Goods.php

Hermitage Club Announces Highlights of Economic Stimulus that Funneled Millions into the Wilmington & West Dover VT Economic Infrastructure Devastated by Hurricane Irene

Wilmington, VT (PRWEB) December 17, 2014

The Hermitage Club disclosed today the scope of the economic stimulus that it has provided to Wilmington and Dover, the southern Vermont towns that were hit hard by Hurricane Irene in August 2011.“The idea was to purchase and then completely rebuild and expand the long closed Haystack Mountain ski area, and transform it into an exclusive, state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly, four-season private club” commented Dale Ribaudo, senior vice president of the Hermitage Club. Now three years after the initial purchase and beginning its fourth season of operations, total spending from October 2011 through November 2014 has exceeded $ 94 million and has helped to resurrect the local economy.

Prior to the hurricane, the towns of Wilmington and Dover were economically depressed – Wilmington saw a 16% population decrease in population from 2000- 2010, primarily due to lack of jobs, and Dover’s experiences were similar. According to the ‘Summary of the Strategic Economic Development Plan for Dover and Wilmington, Vermont’ developed by the Tri Town Economic Development Committee in December 2009 and assisted by Mullin Associates Inc,. “the towns are in an economic climate of gradual decline that will only continue if they do nothing. They are able to survive recessions and times of severe distress but are unable to regain that which they have lost and are not growing in new areas. The decline is slow and subtle, but constant. They have no choice but to change if they wish to remain vibrant and maintain their quality of life.” Then Hurricane Irene hit – 48 out of 57 buildings were flooded in the Wilmington’s historic business district.

Enter the Hermitage Club – five years after the release of the ‘Strategic Economic Development Plan for Dover and Wilmington’ the Hermitage Club has helped the Deerfield Valley meet many of the recommendations of this extensive study. Since 2011, The Hermitage Club has had the following impact on the local economies:

Spent approximately $ 94 million over the last three years making this the largest real estate development project in Vermont. Of this amount, $ 42 million was for operating costs and $ 52 million was for capital investment.
Hired over 200 local contractors in “Green” construction projects
Created employment for 268 people at the Club
Generated local property taxes to the towns of Wilmington and Dover on club owned property and real estate sold to club members that will approach $ 900,000 per year by June 2015
Paid over $ 400,000 to the state of Vermont for transfer and land gains taxes for the period 2011-2014
Paid $ 1.1 million in sales, meals & room taxes to the state of Vermont for the period 2011-2014
Paid $ 191,000 in sales, meals & room taxes to Wilmington & Dover for the period 2011-2014
Paid permitting expenses of over $ 700,000
Invested over $ 2 million in marketing and communications over the past two years, branding the club and promoting the Deerfield Valley throughout the Northeast
Built a luxurious 80,000 square foot ‘Green’ clubhouse / base lodge that is the largest post and beam structure east of the Mississippi River
Purchased, expanded and increased the safety of the Deerfield Valley Airport
Contributed to and supported the Deerfield Valley Trail expansion – The recreational trail between Wilmington and Dover for hikers and bicycles
Attracted new investors to the area that have recognized the opportunity of a revitalized community and subsequently purchased several area businesses that are now undergoing renovations.

In the spring of 2014, the Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce released the Deerfield Valley Economic and Demographic Prospectus – This report was designed to “help prospective entrepreneurs and investors assess the current economic trends in the region.” This report noted “there is a new sense of optimism pulsing throughout the community,” and referenced the extensive contribution of the Hermitage Club. The summary stated “Unlike historic real estate expansions, these investments intended to build infrastructure for long term, sustained growth in the region.”

About The Hermitage Club

The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a 1,400-acre enclave in the Deerfield Valley of Southern Vermont. The Club, located in the towns of West Dover and Wilmington, VT, provides members with four seasons of private mountain activities, luxury accommodations and a worry free, safe environment for families of all generations. The exclusive private club community celebrates the outdoors and family fun, with activities ranging from alpine skiing and boarding to cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The Club has also recently added a variety of summer water and mountain adventure activities including hiking, swimming and kayaking in addition to golfing at its 18-hole championship golf course. The Club opened a new 80,000 square foot Clubhouse this past weekend. The facility includes multiple dining options, a full fitness area, spa, children’s center, bowling alley, 45-seat movie theatre, GoPro editing suites and a retail store. The new clubhouse, combined with the residential construction taking place at The Club, qualifies as the largest real estate construction project in southern Vermont and has attracted the interest of those interested in Vermont ski resort real estate. The Hermitage Club is the fastest growing company in Vermont and was recently named to Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the United States.

Silvio Melim Jumps into Small Business Ownership with Fun Fitness

Escondido, Calif. (PRWEB) October 30, 2014

They say if you love what you do, it will never feel like work, and that maxim definitely rings true for Silvio Melim. The former IT professional left his corporate job after 17 years to pursue his dream of business ownership, and now, he doesn’t go to work — he goes to “fun.”

“Working for myself, I [put in] more hours than when I worked for someone else,” Melim stated. “The difference is, it doesn’t feel like work. I hate to call it ‘work’ because I’m doing something I love.”

Melim chose to launch Fun Fitness, an independent, high energy boxing (recreation only) or non-contact circuit training program that encourages people to get fit in a fun, bright environment. The program is designed to get maximum results in the shortest amount of time, working every muscle in the body in 30-minutes or less.

“The best thing about being a business owner is the freedom to do whatever I want and hire whomever I want,” Melim said. “Knowing that I’m working for myself instead of someone else makes getting up in the morning worthwhile.”

Melim utilized the services of small business financing firm Guidant Financial to fund his start-up. Using an arrangement called Rollovers for Business Start-ups, Melim invested money from his retirement account into his new business without taking a taxable distribution, a process he described as “simple, easy and straightforward.”

Fun Fitness, located at 1281 N. Escondido Blvd., Unit A, will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to Noon. Free prizes, refreshments and discounted membership fees will be offered to visitors. To learn more about the Fun Fitness program, call 442-999-5496, email silvio(at)fun-fit(dot)club or visit fun-fit.club.
