reCharge Pilates and Barre http://www.rechargepilatesbarre.com is expanding its teacher training program and collaborating with UNC Chapel Hill Campus Recreation to increase its options for fitness enthusiasts. In January, the Durham, North Carolina studio collaborated with UNC Chapel Hill Campus Recreation to help bring popular barre workouts to its campus of over 41,000 students and faculty.
“At UNC Chapel Hill, we strive to provide diverse fitness programs for the University community. This collaboration with reCharge Pilates and Barre provides an opportunity to expand our fitness offerings,” offered Lauren Mangili, Senior Associate Director, UNC Chapel Hill Campus Recreation.
The reCharge® Barre Teacher Training program was created by long-time fitness professional Sloan Rachmuth. The Harvard graduate and former orthopedic surgery consultant created the intensive 20-hour course to be completed in one long weekend at the Durham studio. The reCharge® training course soon be an approved Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) as a continued educational course.
“This intensive barre teacher training program meets the same standards as other certifications,” explains Rachmuth. “However, the weekend timeline allows our students to begin teaching quickly. Moreover, its intensive format promotes faster learning and builds camaraderie with our students — they become friends who support each other in their professional barre-teaching careers.” Graduates of the barre certification program, including some UNC instructors, receive the opportunity to acquire 50 additional hands-on training hours as assistants in the Durham studio.
Every year, the American College of Sports Medicine polls thousands of fitness pros worldwide to predict the biggest workout trends of the year. In 2015, this ACSM poll revealed body-weight strengthening and yoga as top trends. These two formats are the main components of the reCharge® Barre method. reCharge® barre is a total-body workout designed to tone legs and glutes, and strengthen core muscles with the use of a ballet-type barre for balance and structure.
Dates for upcoming teacher training session are April 24-26, 2015, July 17-19, 2015, and November 13-15, 2015 at reCharge Pilates and Barre (Durham location).
